Mechanical Engineer (Internship- Summer 2023)

Job Description

Mechanical Engineering Interships will support developing:

  • Electronics enclosure (includes structural, thermal, and vibration analysis).
  • Low-gravity simulator (physical) requiring knowledge of kinematics and dynamics, optical motion tracking system, and CAD tool.

Basic Qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Proof of Eligibility to work in the US
  • Enrollment in an accredited college or university, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must not be otherwise employed for the duration of the internship

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have: Solidworks preferred, but any other similar CAD tool experience is acceptable, such as Autodesk Inventor/Fusion 360, NX, Onshape, etc.).
  • Optional, Good to have: Thermal/vibration analysis experience, Ansys is preferred, but other similar FEA software experience is acceptable, such as Autodesk CFD thermal, SimScale, Creo, etc.).
  •  Optional, Good to have: Matlab, Python.
  •  Optional, Good to have: Optical motion tracking system.
  •  Basic knowledge of Kinematics, Statics/Dynamics, Mechatronics, and Linear algebra.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding and history of applying engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in solving mechanical design problems
  • Eager to learn new things
  • Self-starter
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a STEM-related field
  • Aerospace project or course experience a plus but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills
